Mom

5.13.2012

Today is mother's day and I wasnt able to make it down to Eugene to spend it with my mom. I am pretty bummed but I know that she understands. She always understands. There isnt much more I can say about her beside the fact that she is the most amazing person I know. She is a rock. She takes care of everyone and everything. She has given me all the best parts of me and I am positive I will never be able to repay her. I will however spend the rest of my life trying. I love you mom. My life wouldnt be mine with out you.

The above photo is one of my faves of the two of us and sits framed on my bedside table. Look at my mom rock that bikini as if she didnt just grow that little cutie(me!) inside of her!

Happy mother's day to all the wonderful moms out there!

A beach adventure!

Well, I am back from my mini adventure and it was so wonderful to get out of town even for just 24 hours. Rachelle, Grady, Kevin and I took off after everyone was off work and headed for a camp spot. We got to one after dark and had a pretty rough time making a fire as it got insanely windy just after we set up our tents. Luckily Grady had a camp stove and was able to cook us a mini feast as we tried to get some flames working. The night was short, cool but ultimately fun. Dex enjoyed the all the new smells and the air mattress!
In the morning we packed up and headed to the beach. We went to Smuggler's Cove, also known as Short Sands and Indian Beach. Its quite the surf spot and this small secluded beach was full of surfers and their dogs. So fun. Grady tried his hand at surfing but the cold got the best of him and he spent most of the afternoon laying in the sun with the rest of us. Dex wasnt quite sure about the waves at first, this being only his second time to the beach and all. But later I took him to what seemed like a dog party happening on one of the edges and he quickly became the life of the party. He had the whole group of pups sprinting after him in circles and in and out of the waves. He loved running in further than the rest of them and then laying down in the waves, he's such a little freak. He went absolutely nuts out there!
We had a wonderful day relaxing in the warm warm sunshine (not easy to find at the oregon coast!) I cant wait to camp again!

What adventures did you have this weekend?

And I'm off...

Im itching to run wild.
To take off. Full speed.
Bare feet to the ground. Feeling the earth below guide me.
Letting the sun burn my shoulders and the wind take my hair.
To run. Away. Or maybe toward.
I need to let go. To be free.
Oh, I need this so badly.

terrified.

The light is bright, white, but it feels golden. Its slipping in from the window above filling my room, extracting the last bit of night as it consumes the space. The day pours over your skin, lighting the places I held onto in the dark. My eyes follow a curve to your shoulder and I can see each and every one of your freckles.
I never noticed how dark they are. Brown, deep, here to stay. Not like the redish ones that seem to come and go. They cover you. They seem to speak, to tell bits of your story. I try to memorize them before they write any more. I hope they give these moments justice. Full chapters.
As you turn from side to back I watch as your chest rises and falls with your breath, steady. Youre so solid in your sleep. Eyes tight. Quiet. Sure. So sure. I wish you could see it.
I like you like this. Dancing between awake and asleep, resisting the day. Right here. Right next to me.  Here, you're equal parts true and how only I can see you. Its secret. Its mine.
I resist too. I hate to say good bye to the night. But this brief moment, here, in the first light, makes the day ok.

par·a·chute

noun
1.
a folding, umbrellalike, fabric device for allowing a person, to float down safely through the air from a great height.

“But it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once and it’s too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst. And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.” — American Beauty
