fall.

10.05.2010

Today was amazing.
It started off so great, mostly because I got to sleep in. Sigh.
I got to sit in bed sip my coffee and snuggle with the boyfriend and my puppy. Its so great to be able to savor those moments in those illusive morning hours.
Noon came around so I headed off to work, but on my way, I saw a little dog wondering around by himself. I always stop when I see a dog. Always. I cant stand the thought of something happening to them with out any effort on my part. I stopped and saw that he had a collar but no tag. He was darty and just seemed lost. So I called him over and after a couple of minutes he let me pick him up and put him in my car. He was so sweet and took to me right away. I brought him to my work and put him in the back yard. He was such a delight. I took a couple of photos and put him on craigslist with my number right away. After a while it got pretty cold out so I brought some blankets out and he sat on my lap and fell asleep. After the kiddos woke up from nap we headed to a vet to check for a chip, but there wasnt one. And the only place in Portland that will take a healthy stray was closed today. CLOSED, all day. So weird. I hadnt gotten any bites on the CL ad either. So I brought him home with me. We went to the dog park with Dex and they played together so well. It was great. He has been snuggling with me all night and I am completely smitten with him. I just hope I can help find his family. I would so much rather do that than just drop him at animal control. Please think happy thoughts for him (shhh, I call him Petey).

But the best part of today was that it was my first day of fall. It was the first day thats felt crisp and cool and had that smell, you know that fall smell. It was the first day that felt fall. And I just felt good today. Happy, light and driven. I loved today.
How was your day?

  1. Aww, that's so nice of you to get the dog! I've tried to do that a few times, but I always got the crazy dogs- so there wasn't much I could do :-/

“But it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once and it’s too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst. And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.” — American Beauty
