Awesome Day Two: Pump it Up!

6.12.2013

So there is this class... Ive had a bit of a workout crush on it for a while now. But its been way to intimidating for me to just walst upto and introduce myself. It happens right before one of my regular classes and every time I walk in I see a huge group of people sweating and smiling and lugging barbells and weights back to the corner. They all look so happy and healthy and freshly asskicked. Its a beautiful sight.

Rewind: I have only been going to the gym for a couple months now and tend to stick to cardio type workouts and a couple core classes, etc. I have never really lifted weights, ever! Im more of the tiny limber lets do YOGA variety! But oh how Ive lusted over those heavy stop sign shaped hunks of magic that everyone is lifting and swinging about. Its like a club that Im just not strong enough to get into, but you cant get stronger with out being in it! Sick joke!

So yesterday, day two, I decided to just GO FOR IT!!! I picked up a number at the front desk and went to the elliptical and did 3 and a half miles before heading over for my asskicking. It was wonderful! It was hard, yes, but it felt great. I only had to moderate a few things, granted I went a little light on the weights as a first timer, but I definitely held my own. I felt so dang AWESOME afterwards! Mission BODYPUMP was a success!

Im loving my awesomeness right now. Im really trying to get out of my comfort zone with my awesome adventures this time around. Yesterday was just that! I cant wait for the next one!!!

Awesome Day One: A Dyl-icious Motorcyle Ride!

6.11.2013

Day one of awesome was a little slow starting. But after work I was off to an awesome BBQ. Good friends, great food and apparently there was some awesome game on:) I had an awesome time hanging out with old friends and getting to know new ones. Like Kate! There is nothing more awesome that just clicking with someone that is genuinely awesome.

Just when I thought the night couldnt get more awesome, Dylan took me for a ride on his motorcycle. It was only my second time on one ever! The first was also with Dyl in Aspen on Independence Pass! So awesome! Last nights ride was super awesome! So awesome that my teeth hurt from getting so cold since I was smiling so big! AWESOME!

30 Days of Awesome!

Its that time again! Time to get awesome!

Whats this all about you ask? Well here it is straight from the official website 30daysofawesome.com

30 days of awesome was started way back in 2009, when two girls, Jess and LB, set off on a summer adventure to show up any adventure before them: They planned to do awesome things every day for a whole month. From mini golf to mega drunk, they used their awesomeness to fight a war against heat and work and boredom. They won.
The following year, they invited two more girls to join their league, Nicole and Tawnya, who were up to the challenge and performed valiantly. Each girl with her own style and strength, they took on the challenge bravely and came our winners of awesome.
Last year four more were added to the mix: AmandaHeather, and Angeli, and Kait. And thus, the Awesome Crew was created.
The rules of 30 Days are simple enough to understand, but are quite an undertaking to follow. Each participant must not only do something totally AWESOME, but it must be different every day and must be blogged about. It’s not a contest, but a chance to look at life in a positive, fun, and awesome way.
We will face hardships and hangovers, lack motivation and inspiration. But in the end it will all pay off, because even though we may run our credit cards dry, being awesome is priceless.
So follow us girls on this blog and get inspired. Because really, you can be awesome this too!
A few years ago I did my first 30 days of awesome. It was so awesome! You can look back on it here! Follow along for all my upcoming awesomeness! Or join in!

Awesome Day 30: Halloween!

11.04.2009

Halloween...

Is is one of those holidays? The ones that have all the hype and high expectations for an amazing night but only leave you feeling let down in the end. Im not sure. Last years Halloween was so far the only one that left me completely satisfied. But I think it might be. Like New Years Eve.

The night for me was a success, but, with a lot of buts. We were supposed to hang out with our typical group of friends but they all went to a concert that we werent particularly interested in. Prefunking was fun. Champagne and pizza, but, we lost two of our expected entourage. The first party was fun. It was the boyfriend's friend and he is super awesome and fun to hang out with. But, although the crowd was very nice, it just wasnt our steaze. I felt out of place (which doesnt happen often) and wanted to be with my friends. The second party was fun. An awesome venue with the party guaranteed to grow exponentially throughout the night, but, we both got sleepy and super tipsy. We ended up walking home early, im sure, even though I have no idea what time we left. We wanted to make popcorn and watch The Office, but I passed out before the popcorn was fully popped and the boyfriend passed out before he could eat any of it. I woke up in the morning to a full bowl of popcorn right by my head and my laptop still in the middle of us on the bed. I think we had too high of hopes the entire night. Especially the end of the night.

I really did have a great time the entire night but I think this is the first Halloween I would have rather stayed in to watch a scary movie and gift trick or treaters.

And the boyfriend got me a Halloween Rose!
Im so lucky.

How was your Halloween? What did you dress as?

Awesome Day 29: Craftin 'Stumes!

Being the day before halloween, naturally it was the day to start thinking about a costume. I know, most of you had probably already bought, made and/or carefully planned out your costumes by now. But me? Well, I work better under pressure. So after work I met up with the boyfriend and we were off to buy supplies for our "stumes." We decided to be dinosaurs! We went to goodwill for hoodies and to JoAnns for everything else! Oh how I love JoAnns, the best, possibly biggest craft store in the world!

When we went home to start on them, we found that we were not the only ones still working on stuff. I had an apartment full of crafty halloweeners. I think at one point there was over 10 of us there all working away and fight over the glue guns. It was a beautiful mess! Our dinosaur stumes quickly transformed into monsters and I couldnt be more happy with the out come! I hand stitched each dot (and each dot on each dot) and all of the other wonderful little aspects of my monsta 'stume! The boyfriend gave up a little earlier and ended up hot gluing his spots. They both turned out beautifully!

Scary right?

Awesome Day 28: Twilight Night.

This was an awesome day for many reasons but I am going to straight to the big one! I ended this day with typical, or so I thought, movie night with the boyfriend. The movie....Twilight!

I am officially obsessed! I now get it! I did the same thing with Harry Potter. I made fun of all the followers and then once I finally picked up the book and didnt put it down til I was done. This is turning out to be the same kind of deal. I am officially eating my words and in love with twilight. Even though I broke a major rule of mine, seeing a movie before reading the book, I am hooked. No one ever told me it was a love story! I would have seen it forever ago! I am a sucker for romance and I thought the movie would be full of biting and blood. Man was I wrong! I am embarrassed to say I have had the dvd on repeat since the first viewing. But I dont care. I love it that much.

And the answer is yes,
I would marry Edward Cullen.

Awesome Day 27: Party People?

On this hump day, I found out that two good friends were coming through town and needed a place to stay. Naturally they would stay with me, since I have a massive and heavenly couch that also serves as a bed to many stray friends. When I found this out I was very excited and envisioned a lovely and low key  double datey kind of evening.

This, is Cole. He is tall, dark and handsome and sure makes the ladies swoon.
PS...His stach growing skills are unparalleled!

This, is Emma. She is sweet and loud and tells you what she thinks.
PS...Her natural beauty is unparalleled. (seriously)

However later in the day I found out that they were also bringing two friends that needed a place to stay. I adapted to the new plan. But. I was very tired and then realized they were all expecting a huge rager of a night. And of course, the boyfriend and I, as locals, were supposed to make all of this happen. We were rather grumpy at first, fighting it a bit. This was not at all what I wanted the night to be. But after we gave in and started a little prefunking at my apartment, things were looking up. We all sat in my room drinking various poisons, everyone in different conversations. To my surprise and relief we drank and chatted our way right through the bar ours. We spent the entire night prefunking in Apartment 513. All 7 of us. I loved it. I especially loved hanging with my roommate Kait. We have both been so busy lately and havent spent a lot of time together. We bonded while heckling one of the out of towners for our own evil enjoyment. It was awesome. We slowly lost one to her bedroom, then two to the glorious couch bed, then the tiny one to the little couch, and finally I had to kick the previously heckled one out of my room so I too, could go to bed after this long night of "partying"! Sometimes things just work out.
Awesome.

PS... if these two procreate, their children will rule the world with sheer beauty.

Awesome Day 26: BLACK OUT!

This day was awesome. So awesome. So awesome, I think I must have blacked out all of the awesome things I did. Im suffering from a bit of an awesome hang over. So I cannot relay all of the super awesome things I did this day. So sorry. Im so sorry, that its awesome.

I honestly dont remember what I did this day.
Hazard of waiting a week to post awesomeness.
So sorry awesome seeker.

Awesome Day 25: Crafty Cheer Up!

Today was a normal gloomy day in Portland. The clouds have officially moved in and they had been hanging pretty low today. I was in a gloom myself. I just felt heavy, and I was hating it. I didnt want to give in to it, I didnt want to give in to the gloom. So when I got home, I pulled out my craft box. I was going to create my way out of this gloom. I decided to make a necklace. I have had this beautiful tank top for years now that I have never been able to get rid of. It doesnt fit me anymore, but I just love it. So I decided to make a necklace out of it.  Just added some additional material and some feathers! It is beautiful and I love it.

There she is.
What do you think?

Awesome Day 24: Big Boy Bryce!

Today was Bryce Lynden Rosati-Boggs 1st birthday party. I cannot believe that my little "nephew" is a year old now! He is such a light! He is so smart and insanely coordinated. He spent his entire party throwing, catching, and chasing his ball. He is so loved its ridiculous. I love this little dude so much and I am so proud of his parents (two of my best friends) and how well they have raised this little guy so far. I just cant believe it has already been a year since I spent 24 hours by his brave mothers side as he was born. Happy Birthday Bryce! You are so loved!

Awesome Day 23: Photoshoot and Birthday Drinks!

On the particular Saturday I got to sleep in and it was splendid. I had a photoshoot with my new Hip Hop group in the afternoon. It is such a different experience being in front of the camera. I feel like I am such an awkward model! But it was really fun. Every one got all dressed up and there was a ton of down time so I got a chance to get to know everyone a little better. It seems like such a good group! I cant wait to start dancing!

After the shoot, the boyfriend and I headed down to Eugene for the night. My little brother turned 21 last month. I cant even believe it. I hadnt gone out with him at all yet so that was the plan for the night! It was so fun/odd to see my little bro at one of  my bars. I introduced him to a ton of my friends and it was awesome. After the bars the boyfriend and I went hot tubbing and stayed up til 4am. Why? I have no idea, but it was still awesome! Happy Birthday Little Bro!

This is my (not so little) brother. Isnt he handsome?

Awesome A-web 22!

10.28.2009

So my roommate Kait went to school in Boulder. There she made about a million awesome friends that think that she is so equally awesome that they all come here to Portland to visit her. This means that I get to make friends with all of these super awesome people. This weekend, I got to meet one of the most awesome of all....A-Web!

Her name is alyssa and she is the dope shit. She loves Hip Hop music and dancing and thats why we became instant friends! She was so much fun! But the best part about her was that she brought the whole crew together for a night of old time festivities.

We started the night off with an awesome game of apples to apples. This game is awesome already, but our home made version is even better! You all get to choose the adjectives and nouns and make them more specific to you and your friends! Its pretty wonderful!

Later, we went out! It had been quite a while since I went out big with everyone. We started at Ground Kontrol, the super awesome barcade! I loooove it there! I killed it on PacMan a bit and then danced so hard. The DJ was actually playing Hip Hop, at GK! So not the norm, but I took full advantage and made a hiphoppin fool of myself infront of all the gamer geeks! Then it was off to TUBE! The bar that actually feels like youre in a tube, is full of hipsters and emotion, and always servin heaps of Hamms! They usually play tons of random music, but.....tonight it was HipHop again! This was like a dream come true. I would usually be tearing up the dance floor on my own as most of my friends here in Portland are not huge on the dance scene (even though Kait does a mean dino dance) but in swoops Aweb! We danced the night away!

Im so glad to have met Alyssa and Im so sad that she has gone back to the land of sun and snow. Come back soon!

Awesome Day 21: Beach Bliss

10.23.2009

I dont think I am going to be able to express just how wonderful (and awesome) today was. It started off normal enough, wake up, get dressed/ready, drink coffee with the boyfriend, walk to car, kiss the boyfriend goodbye, drive to work. Pretty standard. However, I just had this feeling it was gonna be a good day, I even tweeted about it! So Ive been at work for about 45 and I get a call from my boss letting me know I would be off work at noon...Awesome!!! I was so happy. I called the boyfriend and told him and he, being so awesome and clever, suggested we take a drive to the beach! Awesome! So a few hours later we are in his car and on our way to the water!

The best part of the drive was when the boyfriend suddenly turned off the road and into the Dairy Queen parking lot. See, I have been complaining a bit lately. About this whole pumpkin thing. Every where I turn some one is drinking a pumpkin spiced this or eating a pumpkin spiced that. I have completely missed the pumpkin train and for days I have been moaning and groaning about it. Seriously, all I am hearing these days are wonderful pumpkin spiced stories. I have been jealous and I think the boyfriend may have just wanted to shut me up because he bough me the most delicious pumpkin blizzard! It was unreal, and now I understand exactly what all this pumpkin fuss is about. I have officially boarded the pumpkin train, and I am never getting off!

We made it to the beach, even though, I, of course, fell asleep for the very last bit of the drive (its a rarity when I stay awake for an entire car trip). It was so pretty there. We walked pretty far down the beach until we found the perfect spot of sand nestled between some tall and flowing grass. There is something so beautiful about the beach in the fall. All of the colors blend together creating a soft scene of serenity. We laid on a blanket and kept each other warm. We sat and people watched, saying entirely inappropriate things. I finally bought new batteries for my film SLR and it was so much fun shooting film again. I dont know what it is but something about the beach just screams black and white film to me. But the best part was our conversation. We  always have amazing conversations, he really is my best friend and talking is one of the things we do best. But something about today was just special. We got it all out there, we each talked and listened and it was wonderful. The entire time, we just talked. And it continued for the entire car ride home too. Im just lucky I guess. To have someone so amazing to talk with everyday. Its much harder to come by than some might think. And I am just one of the lucky few!

When we got home, it was time to hang! We finally joined our friends for the awesome thursday night ritual! Go to Taylor and JonMon's apartment to watch The Office, Always Sunny and DVRed episodes of Fantasy Factory and Nitro Circus (while drinking PBR). The Gang tonight included: Taylor, JonMon, Kait, Jessi, Griz, Steven, Adumb, the boyfriend and me! It was so fun and so awesome.

Awesome Day 20: Write it Down

So you all might not think this is very awesome but I sure do. The past week I had been having a few issues/questionings about my Awesome Adventures. It has caused me to slack a little with my writing, like my personal and creative writing. So I figured out a solution. I gave myself heaps of time to write today for my Awesome Day 20! It was so nice. I was able to journal a little, start a few stories and I finally finished and posted this piece, one that really means a lot to me. It was really wonderful to spend so much time strictly for myself. I loved it.

What do you love to set time aside for?

To be awesome, or not to be awesome?

10.21.2009

That is the question...

So this whole GET AWESOME thing has been great. It has caused me to get up and get awesome on days that I would normally just bum around. It has allowed me to find all the mini awesomes in my everyday life and it has also pointed out ever so bluntly that I have many days where I dont do anything awesome at all. I  do enjoy being awesome and also sharing all of my awesomness with all of you in blogland, but im just not so sure anymore. I had fallen behind a little on my awesome postings due to camera issues, internet issues and laziness issues. I was feeling so guilty about the lack of posting for all of my awesome seekers and followers that I wouldnt let myself post about other things until I got my awesomes posted! This actually sucked. I havent sat down and written a meaningful piece or posting in a while and Im bummed about it. It is my fault for not budgeting my awesome time better. I have been so wrapped up in all of this awesome that I have forgotten about everything else that I love. So today, I am having mixed feelings about my Quest for Awesome. I just hope that tomorrow, my awesome and I are on better terms.

Awesome Day 19: "Let the Wild Rumpus Start!!!"

So I did it! I have been waiting a VERY long time for Where the Wild Things Are to come out and I was so excited to see it! So last night I did. The boyfriend and I cooked a really yummy dinner at my apartment and then we walked to the theatre. It was so nice, I hadnt realized just how close of a walk it was. The weather was great too. I didnt think it could have gotten any better, then the movie started.

I just loved it. I cant tell you enough about it, you will have to see it for yourself. But it was amazing. Being a visual person, I just couldnt let go of the beauty that was in, I swear, every single shot. Each frame was so carefully and beautifully planned out. The colors and the textures were unreal. I loved it. It was a visual feast! And the characters! So good! Little Max was amazing, such a great little actor. And the voices of the Wild Things we so perfect. Such stars too! The story was just lovely. I was a little worried about the direction they would take turning a short, very short, children's story into a full length movie, but I loved it. I wont give anything away, just trust me and go see it. And I will admit, I cried. I mean of course I cried, Im me. But I loved every second of it and I cannot wait to see it again!

Has anyone else experienced it yet? What did you think?

Awesome Day 18: Meet Stanley Jr.

Today... I got a fishy!

I know the pics are crappy, Ill try for some better ones tonight.

Last year I had bought a fish mainly for a photography project I was doing. I named him stanley and I loved him. I mean I really loved him, which is weird cause he was just a fish. A gold fish at that. But anyways, I did love him. While I was still living life out of a suitcase, half the week in Portland, half the week in Eugene, my little fishy died. He went out with a bang though and decided to go belly up (literally) on April Fools Day. When my parents called to tell me he died, I thought it was a big joke and didnt give them much credit as they just came out with it and told me. No build up, no trying to make me worry to make the joke a bigger success. They just spit it out, "Lace, Stanley's dead." After a full five minutes of arguing since I was so sure they were lying, I realized it was true when my little brother sent me a picture message to shut me up. That was the end of Stanley.

But today, I got a new little fish. He is gold and shiny and totally awesome. I spent a full 20 minutes in front of the tank at the pet store making sure he was the perfect one. He was the smallest little guy with the best fins! He lives in Stanley's old house and I think he likes it so far. I have named him Stanley Jr. I am great with naming pets as you can already tell, im sure, just look at this post about ZombieShrimpFoodcatBonesStevens. So far he is doing great and fitting in just perfectly in Apartment 513.

  An awesome new addition.

Awesome 17: Family Day!

So Saturday after the audition the boyfriend and I took an impromptu trip to Eugene (my hometown). His brother had come into town from San Francisco last minute and my parents were leaving on a vacation in a couple of days so I really wanted to see them before they left. It was a perfect plan. When we got there saturday night we went straight to his parents house and enjoyed a wonderful dinner. Seriously. It was really good, thanks Tbone!. And then we just hung out for a while. Even though we spent most the time watching baseball (my least favorite sport to watch) I had a great time. I love hanging out with his family and I feel very lucky that they are so warm and inviting. Its always a good time.

The next day, I literally spent the whole time at home (my parents home). It was awesome. I got to see my little brother, who just turned 21! I cannot even believe that! I gave him his birthday gift and Im glad to say he loved it! The rest of the day was just lounging with my parents, eating tons of snacks (my budget doesnt keep many "snacks" around my place), and a hot tub with the boyfriend. It was wonderful!

I love my parents so much and I really miss them when I dont get to see them at least once a month! So this trip was essential! I got to spend some quality time with three of my favorite people in the world this day, and I cant think of anything more awesome than that!
