My life these days...

5.14.2010

Sorry Ive been MIA these days.
Life has been pretty crazy lately. Good crazy for the most part.
Tomorrow is the big moving day! I am very very excited. Pretty stressed. And a little sad. While I love the new loft, love that I will be living with the boyfriend, love the new neighborhood and so many other things about the new place, I am very sad to leave my downtown apartment. I adore this apartment. It is the first place I lived after moving here to Portland. I love living in the middle of all the action. I love my balcony overlooking all the crazies this city is home to. I am going to miss my roommate (my good friend from middle school) and having my neighbor/friend Adumb always "Kramering" in all the time. Its a good thing though. A good move. Literally.

The real time-suck these days though...DEX. My wonderful little pup. I am so in love with him already its insane. I am consumed with fear that I am not taking all the right steps or teaching him the right things in the right ways. I am on my second book by the wonderful Dog Whisperer, Cesar Millan.  Dexter is so great, he really is a good dog, so sweet and loving. But trust me he can be a baby devil. I am stressed to the max trying to give him everything he needs, while teaching him the rules of two households, and caring for him along side a toddler and a 4 year old all week. I know it will all pay off though. And snuggling with him every morning is worth every bit of trouble. Just look at that face!
My love.

Awesome A-web 22!

10.28.2009

So my roommate Kait went to school in Boulder. There she made about a million awesome friends that think that she is so equally awesome that they all come here to Portland to visit her. This means that I get to make friends with all of these super awesome people. This weekend, I got to meet one of the most awesome of all....A-Web!

Her name is alyssa and she is the dope shit. She loves Hip Hop music and dancing and thats why we became instant friends! She was so much fun! But the best part about her was that she brought the whole crew together for a night of old time festivities.

We started the night off with an awesome game of apples to apples. This game is awesome already, but our home made version is even better! You all get to choose the adjectives and nouns and make them more specific to you and your friends! Its pretty wonderful!

Later, we went out! It had been quite a while since I went out big with everyone. We started at Ground Kontrol, the super awesome barcade! I loooove it there! I killed it on PacMan a bit and then danced so hard. The DJ was actually playing Hip Hop, at GK! So not the norm, but I took full advantage and made a hiphoppin fool of myself infront of all the gamer geeks! Then it was off to TUBE! The bar that actually feels like youre in a tube, is full of hipsters and emotion, and always servin heaps of Hamms! They usually play tons of random music, but.....tonight it was HipHop again! This was like a dream come true. I would usually be tearing up the dance floor on my own as most of my friends here in Portland are not huge on the dance scene (even though Kait does a mean dino dance) but in swoops Aweb! We danced the night away!

Im so glad to have met Alyssa and Im so sad that she has gone back to the land of sun and snow. Come back soon!

Awesome Day 21: Beach Bliss

10.23.2009

I dont think I am going to be able to express just how wonderful (and awesome) today was. It started off normal enough, wake up, get dressed/ready, drink coffee with the boyfriend, walk to car, kiss the boyfriend goodbye, drive to work. Pretty standard. However, I just had this feeling it was gonna be a good day, I even tweeted about it! So Ive been at work for about 45 and I get a call from my boss letting me know I would be off work at noon...Awesome!!! I was so happy. I called the boyfriend and told him and he, being so awesome and clever, suggested we take a drive to the beach! Awesome! So a few hours later we are in his car and on our way to the water!

The best part of the drive was when the boyfriend suddenly turned off the road and into the Dairy Queen parking lot. See, I have been complaining a bit lately. About this whole pumpkin thing. Every where I turn some one is drinking a pumpkin spiced this or eating a pumpkin spiced that. I have completely missed the pumpkin train and for days I have been moaning and groaning about it. Seriously, all I am hearing these days are wonderful pumpkin spiced stories. I have been jealous and I think the boyfriend may have just wanted to shut me up because he bough me the most delicious pumpkin blizzard! It was unreal, and now I understand exactly what all this pumpkin fuss is about. I have officially boarded the pumpkin train, and I am never getting off!

We made it to the beach, even though, I, of course, fell asleep for the very last bit of the drive (its a rarity when I stay awake for an entire car trip). It was so pretty there. We walked pretty far down the beach until we found the perfect spot of sand nestled between some tall and flowing grass. There is something so beautiful about the beach in the fall. All of the colors blend together creating a soft scene of serenity. We laid on a blanket and kept each other warm. We sat and people watched, saying entirely inappropriate things. I finally bought new batteries for my film SLR and it was so much fun shooting film again. I dont know what it is but something about the beach just screams black and white film to me. But the best part was our conversation. We  always have amazing conversations, he really is my best friend and talking is one of the things we do best. But something about today was just special. We got it all out there, we each talked and listened and it was wonderful. The entire time, we just talked. And it continued for the entire car ride home too. Im just lucky I guess. To have someone so amazing to talk with everyday. Its much harder to come by than some might think. And I am just one of the lucky few!

When we got home, it was time to hang! We finally joined our friends for the awesome thursday night ritual! Go to Taylor and JonMon's apartment to watch The Office, Always Sunny and DVRed episodes of Fantasy Factory and Nitro Circus (while drinking PBR). The Gang tonight included: Taylor, JonMon, Kait, Jessi, Griz, Steven, Adumb, the boyfriend and me! It was so fun and so awesome.

Craft and Video Game Awesome Day One!

10.03.2009

So yesterday I launched my 30 days of awesome! Let me tell you, it was awesome. The begining of my day was pretty standard, not a whole lot of awesome happenin on the work front. However a chill day of work is pretty awesome to me. After work I had a major decision to make...should I drive to JoAnns, or not? See, this JoAnns Fabrics is not your typical craft store, its a craft super store. It is the epitome of craft awesomeness and I just had to get there. It didnt matter to my that Mr. GPS (on my Ipod Phone) told me that with the friday after work traffic it would take me a half an hour just to get there. I had made up my mind and JoAnn was in my sights.

After purchasing more than I should have, as JoAnn always makes me do, I began the awesome journey home. Because of the awesome location of JoAnn and the awesome traffic still looming, I consulted Mr. GPS again to give me the best most awesome route home. He pointed me in the opposite direction of home and gave me an awesome 40 minute time estimation (I dont actually live very far from JoAnn on a regular day). After yelling some awesomely obscene words at Mr. GPS and perhaps giving him a bit of a beating, I decided to trust him and make the Uturn away from the route I was just gonna wing it with. Im so glad I did.

I was lead on an awesome trek through southeast Portland where I discovers awesome new neighborhood and awesome parks I never knew existed.  Then, while following an order from Mr. GPS, I steered my jeep onto a new road. I had never seen or heard of it before, it was big and had a highway feel to it. As I awesomely switched into freeway drive mode, pushing hard on the gas,  whipping my head from side to side making sure not to swipe anyone as I zip through lanes, I came to the top of an awesome hill. When I looked up I saw it, the sun setting over my wonderful city. I was looking at a side of Portland I had never seen. It was beautiful, I could see almost all the bridges all at the same time ( a huge feat, as one of Portlands nicknames is Bridge City). I could see the awesome Big Pink, the tallest building on the west side that is 4 blocks from my apartment so I can always gauge where my awesome dwelling is. It was just so beautiful. The frustration I had been feeling from being gone for 2 hours for a simple craft store run simply drifted away as I made my way over one of the bridges back to my side of town. It was awesome.

Once in my apartment I started on my awesome craft. I wanted to make an earring tree, or whatever those awesome things that hold your earrings are called. You see, I have this problem. Its not awesome. Its an organizational problem. I am the epitome of a creative mind, one of those people that have so much going on in their head at every given moment that I can never calm it enough to keep my surroundings in order. This is true for so many aspects in my life. Anyways, I have been particularly bugged by my disorganized jewelery lately and thought there was nothing more awesome than creating a space for it yesterday!

I made this awesome earring holder with some awesome lace and two awesome sticks. All held together with my favorite kind of glue...HOT! Hammered 3 nails in the wall for my necklaces too! I went through all my junky jewelery and got rid of everything that wasnt awesome. I made a tiny awesome step in the direction of organization! Yay for me!

After my awesome craft, we, my roomie Kait, Taylor, and Adumb, decided to go meet a couple other friends at the most awesome bar in town that just happens to be right next door to my Apartment 513! Ground Kontrol is the local Barcade! Thats right, its a bar AND an arcade. Im totally awesome at PacMan and I know and love all the dudes that work there! It was awesome, even when everyone left and I stayed to talk with Johnny and Aeden, two of my fave bartenders there. An awesome end to Awesome Day One!

This is me and Tay tryin to be hard waitin for the elevator.

Killin it at PacMan! Bad pic but you get the gist.

Mini Awesomes of the Day:

And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.” — American Beauty
