She...

5.31.2011

one of my all time favorite quotes,
and the closest thing to a life's motto that I have.

She decided...

...dreamer.

Give life... its easy.

3.14.2011

I found this over on Becoming Minimalist. I thought it was just amazing enough to share.
Of all the gifts that we could ever give to another person, none holds more potential than giving life itself. And I love the idea that every interaction I have with another human being offers me that grand opportunity.
It doesn’t matter if my next encounter is a short conversation, an email, a meal, or a 4-hour business meeting, it always offers me the same opportunity… to brighten another’s existence by breathing life into theirs.
Once correctly understood and applied, this simple, profound thought calls us to be more intentional, more thoughtful, and more persistent. It calls us to…
  1. Smile more.
  2. Hug more.
  3. Give more compliments.
  4. Write more love notes.
  5. Offer more forgiveness.
  6. Ask more follow-up questions.
  7. Show more interest.
  8. Have more compassion.
  9. Talk to more children.
  10. Remember more names.
  11. Leave bigger tips.
  12. Use kinder words.
  13. Laugh at more jokes.
  14. Make more eye contact.
  15. Treat others to more coffee.
  16. Listen more intently.
  17. Give more time.
  18. Stop to catch-up longer.
  19. Promote others more often.
  20. Be more optimistic.
  21. Be more sympathetic.
  22. Be more patient.
  23. Celebrate more successes.
  24. Ask to pray more often.
  25. Dream bigger dreams for others.
  26. Cook more meals.
  27. Ask elders for more advice.
  28. Spend more time reminiscing with old friends.
  29. Donate more to charity.
  30. Remember more details.
  31. Sing more songs.
  32. Display more affection.
  33. Give more apologies.
  34. Focus less on differences.
  35. Invite more to come along.
  36. Read more books to your child.
  37. Offer to help more often.
  38. Trust more.
  39. Give more responsibility.
  40. Say more thank-you’s.
Give more life. Because there, you’ll find more for yourself as well.

Absolutely amazing.

this is my motto.
everyday.

To my sweet, sweet followers...

1.20.2011

I just wanted to say just how much you all mean to me. Just knowing you are there keeps me writing. But then, all of the wonderful feedback so many of you take the time to share, that is what keeps me here pouring my heart out time and again. My blog has become the most amazing source and outlet. It has been a bit of a shoulder, a friend even. Corny, I know, but so many of you have inspired me and showed me your hearts and I feel so blessed. I read every single comment and email. From the quickest hello to the long heartfelt messages.

But most of all it is the knowledge that what I am sharing and putting out there is actually helping. Some days I get messages saying that a particular quote is just the thing they needed to get through the day. Which is usually the reason I post them too. Timing is a funny and powerful thing.

And then there are days like today when I hear a story that makes me think, awww, it really is all worth it. Today, a good friend and follower told me that after she read one of my recent posts (you all know the one, the big break up post) and she decided to send the link to her cousin. Apparently her cousin has been struggling with the decision to finally get out of a relationship that just wasn't best for her. She had a hard time because she truly and deeply cared about this boy but knew it wasn't the right thing for her. After reading my post, something clicked and gave her the confidence in her decision to end things. I don't know any more than that and while I am not happy about a relationship ending, I am thoroughly grateful that my experience was able to help some one else choose what was best for them. I have no idea what part of my writing sang to her but I am glad it did. It is stories like these that help be push that publish button after opening my heart and crying over a keyboard. Each time I wonder less about what everyone will think. I slowly stop wondering what the people I know will say and start wondering how many people I don't know will end up relating or benifiting from my small feat. The feat of sharing my life, in it's entirety, with others. With everyone.

This is why I keep writing. This is why I post the good and the bad, the inspiring and the defeating. Because somedays I am here to bring you up, and others, you are here to bring me up. I truly appreciate all of you. While I write for me, I keep writing because of you.

the end.

I have sort of left my photography out of the spotlight on this blog. I have a photo blog but have been waiting to launch in along side my website. I have been wanting to share my passion for photography more and more lately and I simply cant wait any longer. It is part of me, it is my art, my air, the way I see and speak life. Here are some of my favorite photos from one of my favorite photographers Rodney Smith. He is so unique and brings such beauty to his imagery. Please enjoy some inspiration.

Letter to my dead girlfriend...

3.03.2010

This had tears pouring down my cheeks. Though it is sad, I decided to share it because of the feelings it left behind in me. It made me not want to take anything for granted, cherish every, seemingly, tiny moment, and hold on to the people you love with everything you have. Lifes too short.

Be Happy!!!

2.03.2010

Define Happiness
What is your definition of a happy life? Are you living it? Think carefully about this because your definition of happiness will influence every other significant decision in your life. For example, if you think happiness is outside you, you will make happiness into a search, a catch or a reward that you must earn. If, however, you know happiness is inside you, then happiness becomes a compass, a teacher and an enabler that helps you to live your best life.
Accept Happiness
Without self-acceptance, you will limit and block how much happiness, prosperity, love and success you will enjoy. The miracle of self-acceptance is that if you are willing to accept that happiness already exists in you, you will begin to experience more happiness around you. The law of acceptance is what activates the law of attraction. Being willing to accept yourself is the first step to bringing out the best in yourself.
Follow Your Joy
There is a world of difference between searching for happiness and following your joy. Following your joy is about listening to your heart's desires, noticing what truly inspires you and recognizing your soul's purpose. A good starting point is to reflect on the question "When am I at my happiest?" People who follow their joy discover a depth of talent and creativity that inspires us all.
Choose Happiness
Some people chase happiness while other people choose happiness. It all depends how much time you want to save. Try to find the place in your mind where you have already decided how good today will be, how good this year will be, how good your life will be. Are you happy with your decision? Set a positive intention right now to let today be even more enjoyable than you thought it was going to be.
Free Happiness
A lot of happiness is overlooked because it doesn't cost anything. If you think money will buy you happiness, you will go shopping for the rest of your life and never be completely satisfied. Money can't buy you happiness, because happiness is not an "it." To enjoy some free happiness, make a list of everything in your life that costs no money and is totally priceless, like laughter, friendship, meditation, air, kindness and the stars at night.
Love Someone
To be happy, all you have to do is be the most loving person you can be. People who give their best time, energy and attention to their most important relationships experience more happiness. All too often, our most important relationships have to compete with our chronic busyness, and the busyness often wins. Stop the busyness and think about who you would like to spend more time with, acknowledge more and have more fun with.
Forgive Now Sometimes, in order to be happy now, you have to be willing to give up all hope for a better past. Everyone knows what it is like to experience a grievance, a disappointment, a wound or a betrayal. Living happily ever after starts with forgiveness. You can't keep carrying a grievance and hope to be happy. Similarly, you can't be a victim and be happy. Practicing forgiveness is what releases you from the past and changes your future. Happiness is a gift you give yourself because it sets you free.
Vocal Gratitude
Say out loud three things you are grateful for. Do this right now, before you go on reading this. Gratitude is often referred to as the shortest shortcut to happiness. The more grateful you are, the happier you will feel. Also, it is impossible to be grateful and depressed. Gratitude with a capital "G" is a deep spiritual realization that you are created perfectly and that everything you have ever wanted—love, joy, peace—is already yours.
Beware Martyrdom
A martyr believes he has to sacrifice himself and happiness in order to enjoy the good things in life. When you try to play the martyr, you lose and so does everyone else. In particular, what you give becomes more and more conditional, full of hidden emotional invoices that must be returned within 28 days, hours, minutes, seconds. Stop neglecting yourself. Be kind to yourself. Life always gets better when you treat yourself better.
Be Present
Living in the "not now" is a chief cause of unhappiness. The strain of being not present in your own life is simply too great. When you miss out on the present, you miss out on so much. No now; no life. In the English language, the word "present" has three distinct meanings: "here", "now" and "a gift." The more present you are in each moment, the more happiness you will find. Happiness is where you are.

Simple Inspiration...

1.31.2010

This is lovely and perfect and inspires me to my core.

par·a·chute

[par-uh-shoot] noun, verb, -chut·ed, -chut·ing.
noun
1.
a folding, umbrellalike, fabric device for allowing a person, to float down safely through the air from a great height.

“But it’s hard to stay mad when there’s so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I’m seeing it all at once and it’s too much. My heart fills up like a balloon that’s about to burst. And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can’t feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life.” — American Beauty
